Head Brewer

Wolf Tree Brewery is located on our family operated cattle ranch in the town of Seal Rock, just south of Newport right across from the beautiful Oregon Coast.  We look to produce beer using the finest ingredients, using local resources whenever possible. Our mission is to craft unique and distinctive beers that encompass the ranch and surrounding coastal forests.

We are looking for someone that will thrive as part of a small team environment in a growing brewery. The Head Brewer will manage all aspects of an operating brewery reporting to ownership and the Brewery Operations manager.

Qualities required for the Head Brewer position:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a brewer in a production environment

  • Capable of all production brewing processes in a safe and efficient manner including but not limited to

    • Execute production of existing recipes, formulating recipes of their own that contribute to the mission of the brewery.

    • Ability to complete all brewing processes (Milling, Wort formation, boiling, cooling, transferring, yeast management, fermentation, conditioning etc)

    • Follows brewing process from beginning to packaging (monitoring gravity, temps, carbonation, maintains brew logs)

    • Maintains the use of Standard Operating Procedures

    • Prioritizes sanitation of brewing environment, CIP etc

    • Experience with packaging procedures (Kegs, bottles, cans)

    • OSHA compliance and training

    • Ensure supply of raw materials and other inventory items required for brewing and cleaning

    • Assists in maintaining a high level of organization in the walk in cooler, communicates effectively with Tap Room and Sales staff on inventory.

    • Assists with state and federal reporting

    • Forklift certified, OLCC card

Physical demands of position include but are not limited to lifting 55+ pound grain bags, handling kegs approx 165 pounds, perform duties on a ladder, frequently required to stand for long periods of time and also stoop, kneel, crawl, twist, turn, kneel etc. Ability to work in a fast paced environment that also may include loud noise, working indoor and outdoors,

Preferred Qualities in a Head Brewer

  • Experience with managing a barrel program, working with wild ales a plus.

  • Some experience assisting with QA/QC


  • Negotiable based on experience
